Below is exactly what happens, and what gets thrown away.

The eight stages
Every lead you see has been through all of them.
Stage 01
Discover
We ask search engines and public company indexes for the market you picked,
in many different ways, then keep only one page per company.
Stage 02
Fetch
We open each company's own website — only pages anyone could visit. Sites that
block us or fail to load are dropped here.
Stage 03
Read
We pull the useful parts out of the page: what the company does, who works
there, and how to get in touch.
Stage 04
Tidy up
Names, web addresses, emails and phone numbers are put into one consistent
shape so two spellings of the same company cannot both survive.
Stage 05
Match
We check the company against everything already on your list, so the same
business never arrives twice as a "new" lead.
Stage 06
Verify
The strictest stage. We confirm it is a real business, that it is in the
market you asked for, and that it is someone you could actually sell to.
Stage 07
Score
Each survivor gets a score and a match rating, so the ones worth your morning
sit at the top.
Stage 08
Deliver
What is left lands on your Leads page with its contact and the reason to reach
out. Anything that did not hold up never reaches you.
What we throw away
Stage 06 rejects far more than it keeps. These are the real
reasons a company never makes your list.
Too big to sell to. Companies with their own large engineering
teams and a formal buying process. They get the same email from everyone.
Your competitors. Other development shops, web design studios
and marketing agencies. They sell what you sell.
Sells to the market, not in it. Ask for dental practices and
the web offers you dental software. Those are suppliers, not customers.
Not a company at all. Wikipedia, news sites, directories,
government pages and association listings.
Already yours. Anything matching a lead you already have.
Two ways leads reach you
